I’m sure you have heard by now that next February local television stations will only broadcast in digital. They say you need to buy a digital converter to receive these new off-air signals. “They” also say that you don’t have to worry if you have cable. That’s true, sort of.

Have you noticed that every so often that channels that used to be available without a digital cable box are no longer available without one? Have you noticed how channels have been moved around, but they all tend to end up in the higher end, where you need a converter box in order to watch? Have you noticed how cable box prices seem to be going up? Have you noticed that you really only have one cable company to choose from?

Yeah, next February those of us with cable will have nothing to worry about. Right.
