ReadBurner
While trying to sort through different ways to streamline information (blogs, rss feeds) and figuring out what websites to read and which ones work for me, I started to get overwhelmed with the amount of feeds that I had going into my google reader. Other sites like Digg left me wondering what I actually wanted to read.
A friend of mine (Drew Olanoff) and a few others bought the company Read Burner, as it’s creator was shutting it down because he couldn’t keep up with it. They re-started the website a few weeks back. I have to say that it is really interesting, and has a much better premise then others out there.
What Read Burner does is it takes an rss feed from your google reader (you give it to them) and your shared items are sent to them, just like your friends can see. Their site counts up how many others have shared the same site and ranks them. What’s really cool about this, I think, is that it is not just people clicking on a quick link, but people who actually want their friends to read something.
Anyway, I’ve quickly started using this site on a daily basis. In fact, I actually have it bookmarked on my Treo, so I can read it anywhere. Check it out.
